PROPAMI Strengthens Professionalism and Integrity as Indonesia’s Capital Market Goes Digital

IndonesianTalk.com – The Indonesian Capital Market Professionals Association (PROPAMI) is pushing for stronger professional competencies and greater collaboration among industry stakeholders to build a modern, digital, and sustainable capital market professional ecosystem.

The initiative was highlighted at the PROPAMI 2026 National Discussion Forum, held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Le Meridien Hotel Jakarta. The forum brought together representatives from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the Capital Market Professional Certification Institute (LSP-PM), as well as PROPAMI officials and members from various regions across Indonesia.

Held under the theme “National Collaboration to Build a Modern, Digital, and Sustainable Indonesian Capital Market Professional Ecosystem,” the forum focused on professional development, regulatory transformation, digitalization, certification, and the future readiness of capital market professionals.

PROPAMI Chairman N.S. Aji Martono said the rapid transformation of the capital market must be accompanied by stronger human resources and professional competency standards.

“The capital market continues to evolve. Therefore, the profession must also continue to develop, both in terms of competence, regulatory understanding, and the ability to adapt to technological developments,” Martono said.

He added that PROPAMI would continue strengthening cooperation with regulators, stock exchanges, professional certification bodies, and other stakeholders to improve the professionalism of capital market practitioners.

OJK Plans to Simplify Professional Licensing Rules

At the forum, Ridwan, Head of the Licensing, Institutional Affairs and Market Professionals Department at OJK, outlined the regulator’s plans to simplify and harmonize licensing regulations for representatives of securities companies.

According to Ridwan, OJK plans to consolidate several existing Financial Services Authority Regulations, or POJKs, into a more comprehensive regulatory framework.

The move is expected to improve efficiency and create greater consistency in the licensing process across Indonesia’s capital market ecosystem.

OJK is also encouraging the digitalization and automation of the licensing process through greater data integration among relevant institutions.

The integration is expected to involve population data, professional certification bodies, and professional associations.

A more integrated system could streamline licensing procedures, reduce repetitive administrative processes, and improve the overall efficiency of professional licensing.

Ridwan said digital transformation in licensing must keep pace with the development of the capital market and the evolving needs of industry professionals.

IDX Highlights the Quality of New Listed Companies

Meanwhile, I Gede Nyoman Yetna Setia, Director of Corporate Valuation at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), highlighted the importance of improving the quality of companies entering the public market through Initial Public Offerings (IPOs).

He said Indonesia’s capital market has demonstrated strong resilience, but the quality of newly listed companies remains an important consideration to ensure they can generate sustainable long-term value for investors.

For that reason, stronger collaboration is needed between Self-Regulatory Organizations (SROs) and capital market professionals, particularly underwriters, to ensure companies are adequately prepared before conducting an IPO.

Such collaboration should cover corporate governance, transparency, readiness to operate as public companies, and the ability to create sustainable value for shareholders.

The quality of companies entering the stock market is considered an important factor in maintaining investor confidence, market credibility, and the attractiveness of Indonesia’s capital market.

Professional Competencies Need to Keep Pace

Strengthening human capital was another key issue discussed at the PROPAMI 2026 forum.

As the industry becomes increasingly dynamic, capital market professionals are expected to develop competencies that match evolving market requirements.

These include an understanding of technology, regulations, risk management, and new financial instruments.

Professional certification remains an important mechanism for establishing competency standards. However, certification should not be viewed as the end of professional development.

Capital market professionals need to engage in continuous learning to keep pace with regulatory changes, technological developments, investment products, and changing investor behavior.

PROPAMI is therefore encouraging a stronger culture of continuous professional development across the industry.

PROPAMI Encourages the Use of Artificial Intelligence

The growing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) was also discussed during the forum.

Haryajid Ramelan, PROPAMI’s Deputy Chairman for Education, Literacy and Digitalization, encouraged capital market professionals to embrace technologies such as AI as tools to improve productivity and professional performance.

Technology can assist professionals in processing information, conducting analysis, accelerating workflows, and improving operational efficiency.

However, the use of AI must remain subject to human oversight and professional judgment.

AI-generated outputs need to be properly verified and used in accordance with applicable regulations, professional standards, and ethical responsibilities.

As a result, digital literacy is becoming an increasingly important component of professional competency in Indonesia’s capital market.

RKAT and Pre-RUTA Address PROPAMI’s Strategic Direction

The PROPAMI 2026 forum was also part of a broader organizational agenda involving discussions on the Annual Work and Budget Plan (RKAT) and Pre-RUTA.

The sessions provided an opportunity to evaluate existing organizational programs while preparing PROPAMI’s strategic direction for the coming period.

The discussions covered member competency development, organizational strengthening, technology adoption, and the profession’s contribution to the development of Indonesia’s capital market.

PROPAMI emphasized that professional organizations must continuously adjust their programs to reflect changing industry requirements and regulatory developments.

Collaboration Seen as Key to Professional Development

The PROPAMI 2026 National Discussion Forum underscored the importance of collaboration among professional associations, regulators, stock exchanges, certification institutions, and industry participants in developing a stronger capital market ecosystem.

OJK plays a key role in regulation and supervision, while IDX supports market development and listed companies. LSP-PM contributes to professional competency development and certification, while PROPAMI provides a platform for capital market professionals to strengthen their capabilities, exchange knowledge, and expand professional networks.

Closer cooperation among stakeholders is increasingly important as technological development and market growth create new demands for professional skills and capabilities.

Stronger competencies, adaptive regulations, responsible technology adoption, and effective institutional coordination will be essential to ensuring that Indonesia’s capital market professional ecosystem can respond to future industry challenges.

The PROPAMI 2026 forum reaffirmed that the development of Indonesia’s capital market cannot be measured solely by transaction values or investor growth.

Its long-term strength will also depend on the quality of the professionals who operate within the ecosystem—professionals who are competent, adaptive, digitally capable, and committed to maintaining integrity.
