Haikou, September 18-24, 2023 – The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, Ir. Arifin Tasrif, led the Indonesian delegation to an important event, the China-ASEAN Clean Energy Week (CACEW), held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Haikou, China.
This moment marks a significant step for Indonesia in achieving a cleaner and more sustainable future in the energy sector.
On September 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ir. Arifin Tasrif received audience amidst his busy schedule. The Minister even announced his upcoming visit to the Sunra Xinri motlis factory in Wuxi.
Also accompanying the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources were the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Guangzhou, Ben Perkasa Drajat, Head of the Planning Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Chrisnawan Anditya, Head of the Communication and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agung Pribadi, Director of Electricity Business Development of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Havidh and Secretary of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dayu Citra Seni
This meeting was not only historic but also held great promise for Indonesia.
The follow-up to this meeting involved Special Staff to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the Development of the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector, Ir. Agus Tjahajana Wirakusumah, Head of BBSP KEBTKE, Ir. Senda Hurmuzan Kanam, and Head of the General Affairs Section, Dinar Maharani.
Sunra Xinri introduced the “Trade-In” program as an innovation aimed at reducing the use of fossil fuel-powered motorcycles in Indonesia.
This program involves replacing fossil fuel-powered motorcycles with battery-powered electric motorcycles. This step is highly relevant in supporting Indonesia’s transition to more environmentally friendly transportation.
Furthermore, Sunra Xinri also announced its plans to establish an electric motorcycle assembly plant in the Kendal Special Economic Zone, Central Java.
The plant is expected to commence operations in early 2025 with a production capacity of 1 million electric motorcycle units per year.
This decision marks a significant milestone in the development of the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia. While the new factory is under construction, production will begin at Sunra’s facility in Tangerang, with a capacity of 100,000 units per year.
They visited the Sunra electric motorcycle factory in Wuxi, China, on September 26, 2023.

The collaboration between Indonesia and Sunra Xinri represents a significant step in promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia and reducing the environmental impact of fossil fuel-based transportation.
It is hoped that this collaboration can accelerate Indonesia to achieve the NZE (Net Zero Emissions) target before 2060.
