IndonesianTak.com — Fujian, Indonesia Deepen Economic Partnership to Boost Investment and Industrial Development
JAKARTA – China’s Fujian Province and the Indonesian government have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation, with a renewed focus on investment, industrial development and digital economy collaboration.
The commitment was underscored during the Fujian–Indonesia Bilateral Economic and Trade Cooperation Meeting, which brought together government officials and business leaders from both sides to explore new opportunities for strategic partnerships.
The meeting formed part of broader efforts to expand cooperation in trade, investment and industrial development. In addition to reviewing existing collaboration, both parties discussed new initiatives in sectors considered to have strong long-term growth potential.
Trade relations between Fujian and Indonesia continued to show solid momentum in the first half of 2026. Bilateral trade exceeded 64 billion yuan (US$8.9 billion), maintaining a relatively stable trade structure of approximately 4:1 between the two economies.
Officials said the figures reflected increasingly complementary industrial capabilities and growing market demand, creating favorable conditions for greater two-way investment and stronger industrial connectivity.
Among the priorities agreed during the meeting was improving the ease of doing business by expanding market access, streamlining customs procedures and reducing cross-border trade costs. The measures are expected to create a more transparent, efficient and business-friendly environment.
Both sides also pledged to strengthen industrial and supply chain integration through the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” initiative, a cooperative industrial park mechanism jointly developed by Indonesia and China. The framework is expected to reinforce upstream-to-downstream industrial cooperation while enhancing value chain integration between the two economies.
Beyond manufacturing, Fujian and Indonesia agreed to broaden collaboration in several strategic sectors, including agricultural trade, technological innovation, digital intelligence-based business services, new energy industries and the digital economy.
The diversification of cooperation, officials said, is intended to establish a broader and more sustainable long-term partnership.
On investment, the Fujian provincial government expressed its support for companies from the province seeking to expand their operations in Indonesia. Future investments are expected to focus on industrial estates, infrastructure development, manufacturing capacity expansion and other strategic projects benefiting both countries.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties by establishing long-term cooperation platforms involving governments, businesses, academic institutions and local communities.
Human resource exchanges, technology transfer and stronger institutional communication were identified as key pillars for sustaining bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Fujian authorities invited Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, relevant government agencies, business associations and Indonesian companies to participate in the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), scheduled to take place in Xiamen, Fujian Province, in September 2026.
As one of China’s largest investment promotion events, CIFIT serves as a platform for expanding two-way investment, accelerating joint projects, strengthening industrial networks and facilitating international economic cooperation.
Ismeth Wibowo, commissioner of PT Sunra Asia Pacific Hi-Tech, said the strengthened partnership represented an important milestone for Indonesia-China economic relations.
“The cooperation not only strengthens economic ties between Indonesia and Fujian Province, but also creates broader opportunities for investment, technology transfer and future-oriented industrial development,” Ismeth said.
“We hope this collaboration will generate tangible benefits for businesses while reinforcing the long-term strategic partnership between Indonesia and China.”
Concluding the meeting, both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic trust, improving cooperation mechanisms and developing new collaborative models.
With geographical proximity, longstanding people-to-people relations and highly complementary economic structures, both sides expressed confidence that Fujian–Indonesia economic cooperation would continue to expand and serve as a model for high-quality regional partnership between Indonesia and China.
