PT China Harbour Indonesia Expresses Its Interest to Invest in the Civil Servants’ Housing Project at IKN

Indonesiantalk.com — On Thursday, August 3, 2023, a strategic meeting was held at the Nusantara Capital City Authority (IKN) office in Jakarta.

This meeting marked a significant step towards the investment in the development project of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan.

Present at the meeting were delegations from the IKN Authority and PT China Harbour Indonesia, a subsidiary of China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd, which is one of China’s state-owned enterprises (SOE) with expertise and experience in various infrastructure fields.

Representing the IKN Authority were Dr. Agung Wicaksono, Deputy for Financing and Investment, and Hanief.

On the other hand, PT China Harbour Indonesia was represented by several key figures, including Alex Hsu and Yang Shaoyuan as Directors, and Heri, Lin Yijiu, Renaldo, and Ismeth Wibowo as Advisors.

The meeting focused on PT China Harbour Indonesia’s interest in investing in housing projects for civil servants (ASN) in the form of apartments, a Sea Port, and New and Renewable Energy.

This investment forms part of the strategic cooperation and close partnership between Indonesia and China, which had reached its ten-year milestone at that time.

PT China Harbour Indonesia is a major trading and investment partner for the Republic of Indonesia, with a successful history of collaboration in the country.

Some of the prominent projects successfully completed by PT China Harbour Indonesia include the Daan Mogot 15 Ha Real Estate Development, Palembang LRT Project, Toll Road Development of Medan-Kualanamu, Suramadu Bridge Project, Joint Operation with CRBC, and Jakarta International Container Terminal.

Established in the 1980s as a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC), a Global Fortune 500 company, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC) possesses expertise and experience in various transportation infrastructure fields, including sea ports, reclamation, dredging, bridges, highways, airports, LRT/MRT, and power plants.

This strategic meeting holds great significance as a few weeks earlier, President Joko Widodo conducted a limited working visit to China, where he met with Chinese President, Xi Jinping.

The visit highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation between the two nations and the immense investment potential in mutually beneficial infrastructure projects.

The investment project is expected to bring substantial benefits to Indonesia, both in terms of enhanced infrastructure development and in strengthening the close bilateral relationship between Indonesia and China.

The Nusantara Capital City Authority and PT China Harbour Indonesia are committed to continued collaboration and the realization of the vision for a more advanced and sustainable Nusantara Capital City.
