Indonesiantalk.com — Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza Visits SUNRA Booth at Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2025
Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza attended the opening of the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran (PRJ) 2025, held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. During his visit, he toured several electric vehicle booths, including the booth of PT SUNRA, also known as PT Sunra Asia Pacific Hi-Tech.
At Hall A2, booth number 23, Faisol Riza was accompanied by Ismeth Wibowo, Commissioner of PT Sunra Distributor Indonesia and PT Sunra Retail Indonesia. The two discussed the development of Indonesia’s electric vehicle (EV) industry and the government’s policies to support the growth of environmentally friendly technologies.
“The government is fully committed to supporting the growth of the domestic electric vehicle ecosystem,” stated Faisol Riza.
During his visit, the Deputy Minister inspected a range of SUNRA’s electric vehicles, including electric motorcycles and bicycles, which drew significant attention from visitors. One of the standout products was the SUNRA Dream — a premium electric motorcycle prototype boasting a range of up to 120 kilometers.
Ismeth Wibowo explained that SUNRA has been active in the Indonesian market since 2023 and is currently planning to build an assembly plant in the Kendal Special Economic Industrial Zone, Central Java. He also shared the initial concept design for a factory marketplace to be developed in the same area.
“We’ve tested the battery’s endurance. Throughout the Jakarta Fair, we keep the bikes running non-stop to demonstrate their durability,” added Ismeth. “We even let the rear tire spin continuously in humid conditions as part of our endurance test.”
Ismeth Wibowo, a grandson of Ir. H. Djuanda—Indonesia’s last Prime Minister and the first Chairman of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI)—also voiced his hope that the government would increase support for EV adoption, particularly in the form of purchase subsidies.
He emphasized that range remains one of the key challenges for electric vehicles. In his view, if electric motorcycles can cover more than 100 kilometers on a single charge, recharge in under an hour, and remain affordable, public adoption will increase significantly.
“PLN needs to accelerate the development of public EV charging stations (SPKLU) across the country,” Ismeth stressed, highlighting the urgency of charging infrastructure.
He also encouraged the banking and finance sectors to take more initiative in offering soft loans and partnerships with EV manufacturers.
According to Ismeth, SUNRA is currently exploring partnerships with institutions such as BNI, PT Pos Indonesia, Gojek, Bank Danamon, Adira Finance, JNE, Zendo, and Mandiri Utama Finance.
Meanwhile, Franky Noventus, Operations Manager at PT SUNRA, announced that the company plans to expand its sales network, particularly in Jakarta, Depok, and Bogor, as well as areas beyond Java.
“We are open to retail partnerships and plan to open new branches to reach more consumers,” he said.
The Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2025 was officially opened by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhaimin Iskandar, representing President Prabowo Subianto. Other dignitaries present at the opening included Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Deputy Minister of Environment Diaz Hendropriyono, Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto, as well as Jek, Special Staff to the Deputy Minister, among other invited guests.
The grand exhibition runs from June 12 to July 13, 2025, at JIExpo Kemayoran.
As a side note, on June 11, 2025, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics (ILMATE) at the Ministry of Industry, Ir. Sopar Halomoan Sirait, along with staff members Andana and Gusti, conducted a site visit to the Kendal Special Economic Zone. There, they reviewed the planned site for SUNRA’s electric vehicle assembly facility and visited the anode factory of PT Indonesia BTR New Energy Material, which is investing USD 777 million across phases I and II.
The visit was accompanied by Ismeth Wibowo and Mr. Wu Lei, President Director of PT Indonesia BTR New Energy Material.
