Subang Regency played host to the Bilateral Conference on Renewable Energy, held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Subang Regency Government Hall, West Java.
The event brought together key figures from Indonesia and China as part of a strategic effort to drive major investments in electric vehicles and renewable energy.
Ismeth Wibowo, Commissioner of PT Sunra Distributor, welcomed 42 delegates from China as honored guests, with the series of activities beginning with a field inspection.
The event opened with a warm cultural welcome featuring traditional Subang performances such as the Sisingaan dance, Rampak Gendang, and Jaipong dance.
The momentum of the gathering was further enhanced by the playing of the national anthems of both Indonesia and China, symbolizing the strong friendship between the two nations.
Opening Remarks and Distinguished Guests
The conference was officially opened by the Regent of Subang and followed by speeches from various national and international figures, including:
Prof. C.C. Chan, a global figure in electric vehicles and Co-Chairman of GBS,
Representatives from BKPM (Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry), and
Raja Galuh Pakuan, Rahyang Mandalajati Evi Silviadi Sanggabuana.
Also present were key figures such as K.H. Juhadi Muhammad (Chairman of PW NU West Java), Prof. Dr. H.M. Solehuddin (Rector of UPI Bandung), and Reynaldi Putra Andita BR, S.IP (Regent of Subang) and Dewi Kandiaty Paramesti Tine Yowargana (popularly known as Tingting), initiator of LinkHub.
The conference served as a platform for the exchange of ideas, research, and strategic initiatives from both academia and industry. Key sessions included a presentation by UPI Bandung on the role of technical education in supporting the new energy ecosystem.
Zhang Xiao Hua of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition shared insights on the transformation of the clean energy industry. Ying Xu and Li Lian Bin from HEBUST introduced hydrogen and new energy technologies from China.
Tian Yu Shi, Xu Jun, and Xie Tianyi presented the latest advancements in electric vehicle and battery system technologies.
Other notable attendees included Xie Tianyi (Director of PT Sinolink Education Consultant), Li Yiming (Advisor to PT Sinolink Education Consultant), and Ahmad Balya, S.H., M.H. (Managing Partner at BHP Law Firm). Andri Kantaprawira from the Sundanese Community Council was present.
Also in attendance were Saribua Siahaan (Director of Regional Promotion for Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, BKPM) and Taufik Nurrohim (member of the West Java Provincial Parliament).
Prominent figures such as Prof. C.C. Chan (GBS Co-Chairman), Jack Zhang (Vice President and Secretary General of EIPC of the Investment Association of China), Kevin Jianjun Tu (Managing Director of Agora Energy), Dr. Liu Chaohui (Head of E-Powertrain NEVC), Eric Geng (Executive Assistant at LINCHR), and Michel Zhou (Deputy Director-General of FCSSC) also graced the event.
Investment Commitment from 50 Chinese Industrial Giants
The most historic moment of the conference was the announcement made by Galuh Pakuan—delivered by Rahyang Mandalajati Evi Silviadi Sanggabuana and Tingting—that 50 major Chinese companies are ready to invest in Subang Regency.
These companies span various sectors including electric vehicles, battery manufacturing, AI and smart technologies. The renewable energy industry component will focus on component manufacturing and vehicle assembly.
This major investment initiative is spearheaded by Prof. Chen Qing Quan from the University of Hong Kong, a world-renowned figure in electric vehicles. The move is projected to position Subang as the most comprehensive global hub for electric vehicles and new energy technologies.

Galuh Pakuan has taken on a moral and strategic responsibility to support local and provincial governments—both Subang Regency and West Java Province—in accelerating industrial transformation and enhancing human resources.
