IndonesianTalk.com — Bakom chief says ‘0%’ pocketbook reflects Prabowo’s drive to eradicate poverty

The government has launched a pocketbook titled “0%: Benefits and Beneficiaries of Welfare Support 2026,” a publication officials say encapsulates President Prabowo Subianto’s ambition to eliminate poverty across Indonesia.
The 82-page booklet compiles data and policy explanations outlining the administration’s strategy to reduce poverty to zero percent, according to the Presidential Communication Office (Bakom).
Head of Bakom, Angga Raka Prabowo, said the publication draws directly from the President’s overarching vision of improving public welfare and lifting citizens out of poverty.
“The President’s spirit is to alleviate — even eliminate — poverty in the Republic of Indonesia. This mission is rooted in the Constitution,” Angga said during the launch event at the Presidential Staff Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He added that the pocketbook is intended as a comprehensive communication tool for the government, particularly Bakom, to disseminate information on the administration’s priority programs in a clear and accessible manner.
The publication details the government’s life-cycle approach to welfare support, covering stages from pregnancy and early childhood to school age, working age and old age.
“This serves as a guide for how the state is present throughout a citizen’s life — from the womb to the end of life,” Angga said.
Beyond outlining programs, the book also aims to provide accurate and measurable information on their impact, ensuring that the public understands how government initiatives translate into tangible benefits.
Angga emphasized the importance of ensuring that policy communication reaches citizens effectively.
“We must ensure that every piece of information, every policy and every government step — especially those related to public welfare — reaches the people and is truly felt in their daily lives,” he said.
He also expressed hope that the pocketbook would foster greater social empathy, encouraging citizens to remain aware of those in need and to support one another.
The publication is also expected to help improve targeting accuracy in welfare distribution, particularly as the government now relies on the National Integrated Socioeconomic Data (DTSEN) system as the primary database for allocating priority programs.
“We are making every effort to ensure that beneficiaries are those who truly deserve the support,” Angga said.
