JAKARTA – Indonesia’s state-owned news agency, LKBN ANTARA, has launched a two-day Content Creator Bootcamp aimed at equipping young Indonesians with the skills to produce digital content that is not only engaging but also socially impactful, as concerns over misinformation and low-quality online content continue to grow.

The program, held on July 30–31 at the ANTARA Heritage Center in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta, reflects the agency’s broader effort to encourage a new generation of digital creators who value accuracy, creativity and public responsibility alongside online popularity.

Opening the event on Thursday, ANTARA President Director Benny Siga Butar Butar said the bootcamp was designed to cultivate creators capable of making meaningful contributions to society through digital storytelling.

“This bootcamp is intended to develop young people who possess not only technical skills but also a strong sense of social responsibility. We want them to create content that delivers real value to society and inspires positive change,” Benny said.

The initiative is organized by Lembaga Pendidikan ANTARA (LPA) in collaboration with several partners, including the Jakarta provincial administration, state-owned lender BNI, state food procurement agency BULOG, state insurer Jasindo, and Tempo.

Twenty participants aged between 17 and 20 are taking part in intensive sessions covering the fundamentals of professional content creation, including identifying compelling story angles, selecting relevant topics, developing creative concepts and refining presentation styles suited to different audiences.

Beyond technical competencies, the curriculum emphasizes media literacy and ethical communication, encouraging participants to recognize that every piece of content published online carries social consequences.

Rather than simply pursuing viral success or follower counts, participants are encouraged to produce content that informs, educates and contributes positively to public discourse.

Benny said the program also seeks to help young creators transform their digital skills into sustainable career opportunities.

“As the creator economy continues to expand, professional competence will become increasingly important. We hope these participants will be able to produce high-quality content while building viable careers in the creative industry,” he said.

The bootcamp comes at a time when Indonesia is witnessing rapid growth in digital content production alongside increasing concerns over misinformation, manipulated narratives and misleading social media posts.

Representing the Jakarta Provincial Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency, Head of Public Information Syali Gestanon welcomed the initiative, saying it aligns with the government’s efforts to improve the quality of information available to the public.

“We hope this program will produce content creators who prioritize facts and credible data, enabling the public to access reliable information rather than misleading content,” Syali said.

He expressed hope that graduates of the program would become strategic partners in disseminating accurate public information while maintaining creativity and audience engagement.

Syali also encouraged ANTARA to expand future editions of the bootcamp beyond students and university attendees to include members of the wider public.

According to him, broadening participation would amplify the positive impact of educational and informative digital content across Indonesian society.

As digital platforms increasingly shape public opinion and influence social behavior, initiatives such as ANTARA’s Content Creator Bootcamp reflect a growing recognition that the future of Indonesia’s information ecosystem will depend not only on professional journalists but also on responsible digital creators capable of combining creativity with credibility.
