Jakarta – Chinese electric motorcycle and e-bike manufacturer PT Sunra Indonesia has officially launched a strategic partnership with electric mobility company GOECO, marking the collaboration with the handover of the first batch of electric motorcycles aimed at supporting Indonesia’s growing online ride-hailing sector.
The partnership agreement was signed on Friday at SUNRA’s showroom on Jl. K.H. Mas Mansyur, Central Jakarta, in the presence of PT Sunra Asia Pacific Hi-Tech Commissioner Ismeth Wibowo, alongside company executives including Wujianhua, Guo Biao, Guo, Rico, and Silvia.
SUNRA entered the Indonesian market in 2023 through investments in the country’s rapidly expanding two-wheeled electric vehicle industry. The collaboration with GOECO represents another milestone in the company’s effort to strengthen Indonesia’s electric mobility ecosystem.
GOECO operates an electric motorcycle rental service complemented by a battery-swapping network designed primarily for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers. The company promotes a lower daily operating cost model by eliminating fuel expenses, reducing maintenance costs, and providing quick battery replacement services.
The two companies said the partnership reflects their shared commitment to accelerating Indonesia’s transition toward cleaner, more efficient transportation.
“This partnership is both important and strategic, especially at a time when fuel prices are increasing,” Ismeth said during the signing ceremony.
“Fuel prices may rise, but drivers can keep earning,” he remarked.
According to Ismeth, the collaboration also aligns with the Indonesian government’s efforts to promote clean and sustainable energy.
“This is a partnership for the future because it brings together two companies that share the same concern for environmental sustainability,” he said.
Under the collaboration, riders will have access to SUNRA’s battery-as-a-service scheme, which includes 24-hour battery-swapping facilities, a travel range of up to 120 kilometers per charge, and significantly lower operating costs compared with conventional gasoline-powered motorcycles.
Ismeth also expressed hope that the government would accelerate the implementation of incentives for electric motorcycle purchases by selected companies, expected to be introduced in August.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has previously confirmed that the government plans to reinstate incentives for electric motorcycle purchases, although the program will reportedly be targeted at specific companies rather than individual consumers.
Expanding Indonesia’s Electric Vehicle Ecosystem
The GOECO partnership follows SUNRA’s broader strategy to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in Indonesia.
In August 2025, SUNRA signed a strategic financing agreement with Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), enabling customers to purchase SUNRA electric motorcycles through a 0-percent installment program for up to 24 months using BNI credit cards.
The financing initiative was introduced to lower the financial barrier for consumers interested in switching to electric vehicles while supporting Indonesia’s national carbon emission reduction targets.
“We want to make it easier for Indonesians to transition to electric mobility. Through the zero-interest installment program, customers can enjoy SUNRA’s technology without the burden of financing costs,” Ismeth said.
Under the scheme, BNI credit card holders can select their preferred SUNRA electric motorcycle model and obtain zero-interest financing through authorized SUNRA dealerships and the company’s e-commerce platform.
With rising fuel prices, growing environmental awareness, and continued government support for electrification, industry players believe collaborations such as the SUNRA-GOECO partnership will play a significant role in expanding the adoption of electric motorcycles across Indonesia, particularly among commercial riders who rely on affordable daily transportation for their livelihoods.
