In celebration of the 47th anniversary of the Jakarta Maritime Museum, a successful inauguration ceremony for the new Ir. H. Djuanda Multi-Purpose Hall was held.
The ceremony, which took place on Sunday, July 7, 2024, was attended by numerous notable figures, including the family of the late Ir. H. Djuanda and various officials.
Ir. H. Djuanda was a dedicated public servant and a role model, having served in numerous important positions for the nation.
His career included roles as Prime Minister of Indonesia, Acting President, Minister of Defense, Minister of Finance, Minister of Transportation, and Minister of Public Works.
The inauguration of the Ir. H. Djuanda Multi-Purpose Hall aims to enrich and expand the museum’s function as a center for maritime culture and history in Indonesia.
The hall is expected to become an inspiring venue for various cultural, educational, and community activities.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Ms. Mis’ari, Head of the Jakarta Maritime Museum Management Unit, representatives from the Jakarta Provincial Department of Culture, and officials from the Maritime Museum, Onrust Archaeological Museum, and Si Pitung House.
Other notable attendees included Husnison Nisar, Deputy Chairperson of the Jakarta Provincial Cultural Heritage Expert Team, Penjaringan Sub-district Head Makhrus Nugroho, renowned Betawi actor Harry De Fretes, and representatives from cultural communities.
The family of the national hero Ir. H. Djuanda expressed their pride at the honor bestowed upon him with the naming of the hall.
Among the family members present were his youngest daughter Noorwati Djuanda, and grandchildren Shahandra Hanitiyo (Director of Strategic Development and Special Procurement Policy at LKPP), Steramita, Sancia, and Shira.
Ismeth Wibowo (Commissioner of PT Sunra Asia Pacific Hi-Tech) also delivered a speech as the eldest grandchild of Ir. H. Djuanda.
Adding to the significance of the event were Mr. Yasuyuki Korekawa, President Director of Missao Corporation, and La Ode Imran, Manager at Pelindo 2, whose presence enlivened the ceremony.
The successful inauguration of this hall is expected to enhance the Jakarta Maritime Museum’s reputation not only as a repository of Indonesia’s maritime history but also as an active and dynamic cultural center.
